History

farm

Alexander and Agnes Anderson were married in Dublin Ireland. They immigrated to Carberry Manitoba and lived there for several years before moving to Swan River in 1898. Alexander was frustrated with the sandy land in Carberry and traveled north in search of better land. He carried wheat in his chest pocket and planted it in the Swan River Valley. He returned in the fall and was satisfied to see that it had filled out well and not been killed off by frost. They purchased NE 15 35 27 W as part of the homestead act.

Today over one hundred years later we are still farming in the same valley and strive to live by the same principles. Bruce, Ione, Austen and Breanna operate Anderson Cattle Company Inc.

In 2011 Anderson Cattle Company was recognized by the Canadian Angus Association for 75 years of commitment and dedication to the Angus Breed in Canada.

We raise cattle that are productive, hardy and prolific. Off farm employment requires the cows do most of the work are on their own. This means that our cows are bred to take care of them selves and calve on their own.

We have gotten back to the basics and value the way of life farming provides for our family.
